Happy Sunday everyone! So this week, my Vogue‘s September issue arrived, and I just had to make this week’s post dedicated to that. September is my favorite month, and I wait all year for this issue…and here it is:
Where do I start??? First of all, this issue celebrates 120 years of Vogue, and what better way to do that than with their biggest issue yet…a whopping 916 pages! Second, I was so excited when I found out (through blogs and media of course) that Lady Gaga was to be on the cover. I love Lady Gaga and everything about her…her music, style, and passion. And this cover is just PERFECT! Lady Gaga looks incredible in this Marc Jacobs patchwork dress, and this raspberry pink color just pops. And lastly, there are so many amazing photos in this issue that choosing a few for this post was just not ok, so below are my favorites!
This is the cover of the FIRST issue of Vogue from 1892! and it cost 10 cents haha. Can you believe it? It’s just amazing how the cover looked then and how much it has changed. It makes me very excited to see the transformations Vogue will take in the next 50+ years.
This is an ad for Burberry, and I just love the studded clutch AND gloves.
This embellished Prada bag is so beautiful, and the metallic gray color allows it to work with so many outfits.
So who doesn’t love Vera Wang?!!! these dresses are so feminine and beautiful.
The newest Cover Girl…Grammy-nominated musician Janelle Monáe looking flawless in this photo.
I saw this ad for Etro and I had to pause! This red coat is gorgeous and I want it now haha
One word…WOW! This Oscar de la Renta dress is to die for, I mean look at it!!! It’s a work of art.
This is a really interesting article…it talks about the new “dimension” of fashion this fall where designers are creating pieces that have one look from the front view, and a different look from the back view. So cool! it’s really like 2 outfits in 1, and it takes fashion to a whole new place where designers are truly thinking outside the box.
Fall’s new look? think Vampire but softer! Makeup experts are saying to go with dark lips in purples and dark red shades, and then balance that with a soft complexion. “Fall beauty is feminine – with an edge.”
This photo and the dress are both breath-taking. In this futuristic space-inspired shoot, model Karen Elson is wearing this amazing Michael Kors dress…just looks like flowing liquid silver on some other planet! It’s such a cool and structured dress, and definitely a show-stopper!
And of course the Last Look, which I always love. This gorgeous Givenchy evening bag is inspired by vintage camera cases. And I love the colors and embellishments…just perfect for Fall.
So for my cupcake piece this week, I was inspired by the first cover of Vogue (1982) ,which got me thinking about the first cupcake bakery that ever opened…and I found out that the first cupcake bakery was actually Sprinkles Cupcakes! I’ve had their cupcakes before, but I never knew they were the first cupcake bakery! The owner of Sprinkles, Candace Nelson, opened the first Sprinkles store in 2005 in Beverly Hills (only 7 yrs ago!). And since then, our obsession with cupcakes has sky-rocketed!
There were so many more amazing photos from Vogue that I would’ve loved to post, but I think this is plenty haha. If you haven’t picked up your copy of this month’s issue, go now!
So till next week, XOZ!
